Hi John,

I just made a post about how I cooked eye-of-the-goat beans (the one time I've ever done it). They were not quite like any other bean I've ever had, but if I had to pick one, they were not entirely dissimilar to pintos, so probably most recipes for pinto beans would work for Eye of The Goat beans.

I picked up "Backlash" at a used book sale not too long ago, but haven't delved into it yet. Your comment has prompted me to go looking for it, so I'll check it out.

It sounds like your house is full of animals but not full of traditional gender rolls -- just the way houses should be in my opinion :) Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment!

Hi Laura,

I was googling recipes for eye-of-the-goat beans and up popped your blog. Besides the obvious question - "do you have any recipes for eye-of-the-goat beans?", I shall tell you that we have 7 cats (in order of age) : Mango, Dalia, Chicory (a.k.a. Chick), Mama Cat, Blackie, Zoey (a.k.a. Zote or Zote the Goat), and Tessie. We also have a dog "Bella" a.k.a. "Bella The Wonder Dog." My wife rescues horses (we had 13, now 6) and fosters cats (this is where Mama, Zote, Blackie and Tessie come from). We are vegetarians and met volunteering for Planned Parenthood. We have two great kids and are dedicated and politically active feminists. I do the cooking for the household (on an AGA). A good writer on anti-feminism is Susan Faludi. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_Faludi . Please send the recipe if you have it. Keep on blogging.
